Art and Humanities Competition WW1
Art and Humanities have worked together this term on a competition to commemorate the end of World War One. Students were asked to portray World War One through a medium of their choice. This competition hugely engaged the students, who produced some incredibly heartfelt pieces of work. Entries ranged from sewn and knitted poppies; to photographs, poems, historical research and collages. Together, these exhibits have made an outstanding tribute to the fallen of World War One, which shows sensitivity and recognition of the enormous impact of the war. This can be seen at the front of the school. Particular congratulations to Isabella Farrelly for winning the overall best entry, and Ella Masterson, Hannah Birch and Bence Halasi for taking the prizes for each house. Second for each house were Holly Can-Blerk, Katie Rose and Jessica Thomas, with Thomas Walker taking the prize for the best historical exhibit, and Kain Dawson for the most historic exhibit. Well done to all students who entered this competition, to help the Ramsey Academy pay tribute to the immense loss of World War One.

Key Stage 4 Options Subjects 2018 - 2020
The selection of optional subjects is one of the crucial moments in any student’s secondary education. All students have already started to complete work of GCSE standard in all their subjects, but will opt to specialise and follow a two year GCSE programme, starting in Year 10. The experience of studying some of the GCSE content in Year 9 will allow staff to give specific guidance to ensure students have the aptitude for particular subjects and allow students to make a more informed choice.

After the staggering success of last year, when we raised £2,000 in aid of the Smile of Arran Fund, we have chosen once again to support this cause in memory of local teenager, Arran Tosh, who sadly died from a brain tumour at 13 years old. Arran was an inspiration to everyone in the way he worked tirelessly to raise funds for Cancer UK. Please visit the website for more information about how Arran's legacy is supporting other families in need and hopefully a cure for childhood brain tumours: www.smileofarran.org

Building on the success and continued improvement of recent years the quality of results have been maintained in a summer examination season which has seen students sitting a large number of the reformed Grade 9 – 1 GCSEs for the first time. Staff and students worked hard to prepare for examinations that no one had seen or previously taken.
Endeavour House has chosen to support My Blue Heart. The organisation exists to encourage understanding and compassion towards everyone who has to live on without someone they love.
They aim to give bereaved people a way to show others they are grieving through wearing a heart shaped badge, in forget-me-not blue, with a red heart in its heart. The badge conveys the message ‘I carry your heart in mine' and always will.
