Food Preparation and Nutrition - Introduction
Food education provides an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Students are given opportunities to develop an awareness of the integral part that food plays in health and wellbeing.
In Years 7 and 8 students are taught how to apply the main principles of nutrition and healthy eating to a number of different dishes.
In Years 9, 10 and 11 students are introduced to the WJEC Eduqas GCSE Food preparation and nutrition specification. The principal aim is to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to cook and apply the principals of food science, nutrition and healthy eating. Where possible, we endeavour to arrange for specialist chefs, butchers and caterers to come in to do demonstrations and work with the students.
