    Health and Social Care

"The story of life"

When taking their options in Year Nine, students can choose to follow a BTEC Level 2 Tech Award course in Health and Social Care. This course involves completing three components during Years Ten and Eleven and includes both a coursework and an exam-based element. It is equivalent to one GCSE and is taught over five hours a fortnight.

Students say that they choose Health and Social Care as they enjoy studying a different type of course which, due to its vocational nature, is more closely linked to life in the real world. They are encouraged to explore areas that are of interest to them and to discuss a range of issues in a mature and considerate manner.
