History

"Explaining the world as it is by explaining the world as it was"

The History department’s ethos is to provide an enjoyable curriculum for students at KS3, which explores a wide range of both British and World History. The objective of KS3 is to develop students’ use of second order concepts whilst inspiring them to develop a love for History. The KS3 curriculum is designed to allow smooth transition to the KS4 course. In KS4, students will develop their studies further through studies of The People's Health, The Norman Conquest, The Making of America, Living Under Nazi Rule, and a study of Hedingham Castle.

We aim to enrich the History curriculum with a range of opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom. In Year 7, students visit The Tower of London as they study Medieval and Early-Modern History. In Year 9, students have the opportunity to visit the battlefields of WWI on the Ypres trip whilst studying the 20th century, and in Year 10, the students visit Hedingham Castle to support their GCSE site study.
