Drama provides an environment that encourages students to express themselves with vocal and physical confidence and fluency. Students are taught subject specific techniques and skills in order to create work that conveys narratives and meaning in a creative, controlled and powerful way. As well as learning about theatre in its historical context, as an art form, Drama is designed to develop social and cultural capital and expose students to a range of historical and current world situations. The vision is that they become able to reflect upon moral and ethical issues and respond with their own emerging opinions and theatrical ideas. Most importantly, Drama develops confident oral literacy and aims for independent creativity.
