Textiles - Introduction

IMG 5930

In Years 7, 8 and 9 students complete a design and make project over a series of up to eighteen lessons.  They are taught to solve problems and respond to a design brief.  We encourage students to design original and exciting ideas and then select the best methods, tools and techniques for making them.  Throughout each project students are also taught to evaluate, test and refine their work.

Students in Year 10 follow an Art based Fashion and Textiles GCSE. In this very practical subject students learn the skills needed to apply their knowledge and understanding of methods and techniques used by a range of Fashion and Textile designers.

Students in Year 11 are completing their final year of AQA Textiles Technology.  Students embed the skills needed to investigate, develop, plan, make and evaluate a quality final outcome as well as prepare for the written exam.
